Advice for community-based organisations looking to establish and offer welfare support.
A core focus of an effective emergency response is ensuring robust and coordinated welfare service arrangements are in place to meet the needs of affected individuals, families/whānau, and communities.
Each Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) Group is responsible for the coordination of and arrangements for the local delivery of welfare services.
Community-based organisations may also establish and offer welfare support to the community.
If you’re looking to support your local community please ensure you connect with your local CDEM Group BEFORE you deploy resources.
Arrangements between CDEM Groups and community-based organisations must be agreed in advance, so both parties are clear about what the funding is for and what costs are reimbursable.
