State of Local Emergency declared for Southland and Queenstown

A State of Local Emergency has been declared for Southland and for Queenstown district in Otago due to heavy rainfall causing significant flooding.
Put safety first. Don’t take any chances. Act quickly if you see rising water.
If you are in immediate danger, call 111.
Floods and flash floods can happen quickly. If you see rising water do not wait for official warnings. Head for higher ground and stay away from floodwater.
Never try to walk, swim or drive through flood water.
Auckland local transition period extended for January Floods and Cyclone Gabrielle

The local transition period for Auckland for the January Floods and Cyclone Gabrielle has been extended until 21 September 2023.
The CDEM Act provides for local transition periods to assist with recovery where required and provides powers to Recovery Managers during local transition periods.
