Consultation on the draft Revised Guide to the National CDEM Plan 2015 (17 July - 11 September)

The draft Revised Guide to the National CDEM Plan 2015 (the revised Guide) outlines New Zealand’s arrangements for the national management or support for local management of emergencies.

The purpose of the revised Guide is to assist and support New Zealand agencies to achieve the purpose of the new National CDEM Plan 2015 (the Plan 2015), which comes into force on 1 December 2015.

A review of the Guide to the National CDEM Plan 2009commenced in early 2015 with the aim of:

  • realigning it with the Plan 2015;

  • improving documentation of further enhanced arrangements; and

  • providing an up-to-date navigational tool for agencies and CDEM Groups to source relevant material on specific CDEM subject areas across the 4Rs.

The review has involved consultation with relevant agencies to develop proposed amendments to the revised Guide. The revised Guide is intended to be a ‘living document’, and is to be updated and republished, as operational arrangements, policy and planning are further developed.

The civil defence emergency management sector, agencies with arrangements in the revised Guide, and agencies with an interest in emergency management are being consulted on this draft revised document.
