Mass Relief National Approach Information Series [IS 17/25]
Mass Relief is the immediate provision of resources and services to preserve life and ease the suffering of people and animals impacted by a catastrophe.
Many agencies were involved with the development of this document. It was developed alongside the Catastrophic Event Planning programme.
This document outlines the national approach for welfare services delivery at the start of a catastrophic event. It takes a system level approach. This is to ensure national agencies are as prepared as possible to support and enable regional and local arrangements.
There are four key service delivery areas:
- Population-Based Needs Assessment
- Food and Non-Food Items
- Mass Shelter and Accommodation
- Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion (WASH)
