The Knowledge of the CIMS intelligence Function course is now live on Takatū. This course is the first of 8 that make up the National Training Package. Three more L4 courses covering the Planning, Logistics and Operations functions will be rolled out before the end of the year.
About the course
The Knowledge of the CIMS Intelligence Function is a self-paced, online course designed to grow consistent practice amongst Intelligence Function team members in an emergency. The course consists of six learning modules and a level 4 unit standard assessment - 32161 Demonstrate knowledge of the Intelligence function within the Coordination Incident Management System.
To enhance learning and improve success in the assessment we encourage learners to organise study groups and/or to work with people who are experienced in the CIMS 3rd edition Intelligence function. As this is a new course and unit standard assessment, we would like to build a community of engaged practitioners who can support future learners to achieve the assessment supporting NEMA to strengthen New Zealand’s emergency management capability.
NEMA has organised to cover costs to undertake the learning and assessment. This will be reviewed in 3-6 months and there may an assessment fee in the future.
The recommended pre-requisite for this course is Unit Standard 29553 - Demonstrate operational knowledge of New Zealand’s Coordinated Incident Management System functions and structure. More information on how to gain 29553 can be found on the course’s homepage in takatū.
