NZcivildefence Twitter feed
This feed has been established to help us inform as many people as possible when civil defence emergencies occur. It is one of many communication tools we use and its intent is to direct people to our website for more in-depth information.
Click on the Twitter icon to visit our account and begin following us.
This Twitter feed is not intended to be an early warning system. While we can tweet directly from our account, most tweets will be generated automatically from our RSS feed. Whenever a change is made to the emergency status of the website, followers of our Twitter account will automatically receive a tweet.
Please note, we use two web utilities (Twitterfeed and dlvr.it) to automatically generate a tweet from our RSS feed to ensure you are notified as soon as possible. Therefore you may receive two tweets of the same message.
The tweet will include a link to our website for more comprehensive information.
People following our account are encouraged to retweet emergency information to other Twitter members.
The Ministry will also send test messages approximately four times a year to check that this service is functioning correctly. We will not generate tweets unless it is necessary. Our account photo is the civil defence logo so you’ll know when a tweet from us arrives (see below).
Disclaimer: As Twitter (and the web utilities used to automatically generate tweets from our RSS feed) is an external web service, we cannot guarantee the reliability of this service.
