Waikato Regional Council : Local Civil Defence Emergency
We are currently recruiting for a Local Civil Defence Emergency Management Co-ordinator based in Waikato District Council’s head office in Ngaruawahia.

This position is expected to facilitate the delivery of Civil Defence Emergency Management for Waikato District Council. The successful individual will however be employed by Waikato Regional Council, working under the direction of the Waikato Region Civil Defence Emergency Management Group Manager / Controller.

This challenging role is to deliver Civil Defence Emergency Management by supporting communities and agencies in understanding their hazards, planning for and developing preparedness and collectively building resilience against disasters.

The right person will have:
  • A relevant tertiary qualification or proven experience in emergency management, or in a similar role
  • Thorough understanding of the principles of emergency management, particularly in the area of all hazards planning and community engagement
  • Demonstrated planning and project management skills
  • Demonstrated relationship management and multi agency cooperation / co-ordination experience
Emergency Response is a key component of this role. In an emergency the Local Emergency Management Co-ordinator will be required to assist in the response.
