Horizons Regional Council: Principal Rural Fire Officer - Emergency Management Officer

An opportunity exists for an enthusiastic, customer focused person to join our Emergency Management Office Team. As the Principal Rural Fire Officer – Emergency Management Officer you will provide Rural Fire Services primarily for the Manawatu & Horowhenua Districts and carryout and support Civil Defence Emergency Management activities for those Districts when required.

You will have appropriate experience in Rural Fire - Emergency Management and qualification to carryout the role of Rural Fire Officer and to hold the position of Principal Rural Fire Officer.

Working in a small team, you will have a positive and friendly attitude and be a team player. You will have excellent relationship management and communication skills and be able to effectively interact with the general public. Being familiar with relevant Local Government legislation and having knowledge of Local Government processes and procedures would be beneficial.

Due to the unpredictable nature of emergencies you must be able to work effectively under pressure. Work outside of normal office hours will be necessary at times, as will the requirement to carryout rostered duty officer requirements.

Ministry for Primary Industries: Emergency Managers

The Ministry for Primary Industries is currently implementing the Coordinated incident management system (CIMS) and is seeking to significantly enhance its ability to respond to major incidents by establishing a dedicated Major Incident Management Team.

We are seeking three Emergency Managers to join the Ministries’ Major Incident Management Team. Two positions are Level 5 Response Managers and the third position is a Level 4 Manager Major Incidents who will lead the Team.

Response Managers will expertly lead/ advise on significant biosecurity, food safety, trade, adverse event responses, other significant projects and to contribute to response preparedness.

The Manager Major Incidents will lead this team, which will comprise these two new Response Manager roles and  two existing experienced Response Managers who have led responses for the Ministry over the last seven years.

To complement the current Response Managers expertise we are particularly interested in applications from proven emergency managers with previous experience in trade, food safety and adverse events response management.
